Job purpose

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for booking and reviewing monthly revenue entries, contract review, accounting policy documentation and research, process documentation and process improvement identification. This position addresses strict deadlines as it relates to close, project deadlines and ad hoc requirements. The position requires a high degree of discretion, sound judgment, and initiative. Strong organizational, communication, and planning skills are required. The role will have contact with all levels of management within the Company which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. This role requires the ability to think and work independently but necessitates working in a team environment.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assists with monthly and quarterly close (from a revenue perspective), including preparation and review of account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Reviews contracts including newly executed and already existing agreements.
  • Lead the documentation effort of the Companys operational and financial processes.
  • Identify areas of potential improvement during the documentation of the Companys processes.
  • Communicate accounting policies, procedures, and improvement opportunities with management and respond to inquiries from the CFO, Controller, and other managers.
  • Assist with the fiscal year-end close and consolidation process.
  • Assist in the creation of accounting records, memorandums, and files that document special transaction details related to mergers, acquisitions, and unique transactions and advise and develop journal entries to record transactions accurately.
  • Assist in the development of the monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting packages.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree with an emphasis or major in accounting.
  • Public accounting and auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP.
  • Experience documenting process narratives and walkthroughs and identifying controls.
  • Experience with accounting research and technical memo writing.
  • Experience with identifying process improvement opportunities.
  • Active CPA license or at least 2 parts passed with a plan to pass the rest.
  • AdvancedExcel skills requires, proficiency in other MS office products including word and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to Lawson a plus
  • 4 years of overall work experience including 3 years at a public accounting firm
