JOB FUNCTION:The Senior Auditing Specialist will respond to consulting and education needs related to coding quality, compliance assessments, external payer reviews, coding education, interim coding management and coding workflow operations reviews. Offer meaningful information to meet customer expectations including identifying and proposing solutions for customer issues. Develop and maintain account relationships through responsiveness and calm, reflective work practices. Work cooperatively with the Data Quality & Coding Compliance leadership and scheduling for optimal services outcomeESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Account Management Communicate between the customer and CIOX Health to meet service needs Articulate and consistently fulfill customer expectations and CIOX Health performance standards Respond in a timely manner to requests and meet project deadlines including final report submission Assist in maintaining an accurate account profile and documentation of ongoing customer communications Consulting Service Delivery Deliver consultative and operational services according to the project or engagement specifications and timeline Prepare data files and maintain all protected health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and CIOX Health privacy and security policies Provide feedback to customers on their compliance risks, exposures and problematic practices Promote connectivity between the customer and the CIOX Health organization through on-going communication Perform analysis of codified data including trending/forecasting and selection of audit samples for review Analyze, compile and report data in the specific project defined deliverables within the expected timeframe Plan and deliver educational sessions for coding teams and the customer organization leadership Communicate one-to-one and group performance results noting strengths and opportunities for improvement Offer best practice solutions and make recommendations for needed improvements to advance quality performance and reduce compliance risks Team Participation Follow current our policies and procedures for all functions using available internal resources and in consideration of established best practices Address technical issues, such as system access or data transfer or FTP use, that arise utilizing available CIOX Health support services Maintain equipment, software and resources to effectively deliver consulting services Work collaboratively with team members supporting mutual growth, advancement and successful delivery of our services Actively participate in educational offerings and when called upon lead educational team sessions Engage in project pre-planning and post-service evaluation processes to strengthen service delivery and improve overall team performanceADDITIONAL JOB COMPONENTS: Propose efficiencies in operational practices and offer suggestions on services to meet customer needs Write informational articles and participate in development of education material for internal and/or external use Participate in business and coding compliance activities Stay informed on current health care industry issues and trends particularly those related to health information management and coding practices Reports to work as scheduled. Complies with all CIOX Health Policies, specifically, attendance and punctuality. Typically, works remotely accessing work related projects and tasks via VPN access. Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:Consideration for the role of Senior Audit Specialist requires all of the following: High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited High School is required, Bachelors Degree preferred. Appropriate professional credentials including but not limited to RHIA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, CCS-P Five years experience in health care coding, classification and reimbursement systems Proficient in standard health care coding and classification systems Experience in coding operations, compliance, revenue cycle or practice management Experience in compliance audit services within a health care setting or external consulting organization Able to manage multiple projects and competing priorities Knowledge of and experience with Office of the Inspector General (OIG) annual work plan and Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement methodologies and compliance requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills Capable of effectively delivering small group presentations and leading team action planning Proficient in word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and general computer proficiency Able to work independently and proceed with objectives without supervision Able to handle and resolve issues/objections with professionalism and in a calm manner Versed in the fundamental principles of HIPAA and handling protected health information Integrity Service oriented, persuasive, diplomatic Able to function competently in a team environment Effectively interact with internal and external customers Resourceful and well organized Able to understand people and their problems, maintaining a sense of fairness and being a calming influence Able to maintain objectivity Clear understanding of tasks to be done and commitment to achieving Commitment to responsive follow-through and timely completion of tasks Passing annual Introductory HIPAA examination. (Testing to be given annually in accordance with employee review.)PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Sitting, talking, hearing and near vision are required over 90% of the time, while walking is required about 10% of the time. Standing is required over 30% of the time. The sense of touch is required 90% of the time and reaching is required about 50% of the time. Bending, twisting, and climbing are required, as is far vision, but only for 10% or less of the time. Low levels of lifting (10 pounds or less) are required about 25% of the time, while medium levels (20 to 40 pounds) of lifting and carrying are required less than 5% of the time.
