Position Network Engineer

Implements, operates, and troubleshoots complex network systems while ensuring that all operational components are working properly and accessible to authorized personnel. Engineer provides hands-on network support as necessary. This position will assist in the design, documentation, development, and maintenance of the enterprise network infrastructure for multiple locations. The Network Engineer will also be a key contributor to the network security systems and procedures adopted by the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with system, storage, security, and telephony engineers to ensure essential production, development, and quality assurance systems are available and performing satisfactorily.
  • Participate in monthly on-call rotation where engineer is responsible for responding to all network services tickets for the week, responds to calls from the DCO 24x7, owns network outages and triages with various internal teams to resolve network or systems outages.
  • Implement network, load balancing, and firewall changes necessary to build out new environments, troubleshoot, and add connectivity to existing environments.
  • Ensure network documentation is up to date and useful.
  • Respond to network requests, inquiries, and issues reported to network services by remote offices.
  • Participate in Business Continuity testing and Disaster Recovery design and management.
  • Troubleshoot network down issues with Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, Riverbed, Arista, and Fortinet network devices.

Job Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

  • Min 10 years network experience in a corporate and enterprise data center environment.
  • CCNP level experience or certification
  • Very strong firewall experience. Preferably experience migrating configurations from one vender to another (IE: Juniper ISG 1000 to Palo Alto 3020).
  • Ability to succinctly communicate and translate network requirements amongst the team and with end users and consumers of network resources not familiar with network terminology. Perform diligent internal and external customer service.
  • Excellent network troubleshooting skills using Wireshark, TCPDUMP, Remote Desktop Applications, etc.
  • Self-starter with inquisitive nature, project management skills, and low geek ego.
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills, team player, with strong understanding of the interdependence of network, compute, storage and applications.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, WWW, FTP, TELNET, SSH, etc.
